How can we take failures as an opportunity to start something new, exciting, big, and beautiful? How can we make our failures rock? Let’s explore.
In his book “My Journey: Transforming Dreams into Actions,” Dr. Abdul Kalam said that he failed to realize his dearest dream of becoming a pilot. Probably only because of that failure, Dr. Kalam later turns out to be “The Missile Man of India,” and we Indians also got a beloved president in him! Had Dr. Kalam become the pilot, the course of his life and even the state of India’s Space capabilities would be much different, far less good.
Before Jan Koum and Brian Acton were WhatsApp co-founders, they applied for jobs at Facebook and Twitter. And when they didn’t get one there, they started working on their own startup, and the world got WhatsApp.
There are countless big-medium-and-small stories of similar turnaround expressing the spirit of turning failures into success. And you and me can do it too:
Failed to get a job? → It’s not the last job on earth. Many more jobs await you ahead. Let me share my experience! When I switched from Chartered Accountancy to Marketing, I gave 50+ interviews before landing the first marketing job.
Failed at your business venture? → Great. You have got more experience now. Let’s start better this time. You know, before Ford Motors, Henry Ford holds the credit for founding two automotive companies that didn’t survive. Besides Henry Ford, we have multiple achievers in the business world who created and shut down several companies before getting their hands onto a successful venture.
Failed to sell your latest book (or anything that you created)? → Even pitch for now world-famous novel “Harry Potter” was rejected by 12 publishing houses! “The 4 Hour Workweek” of Tim Ferris was rejected by 25 publishers before publication and is now No. 1 New York Times Bestseller! Who knows, your book (or what you created) can be next!
Failed at anything else? → It’s not the end of the world. You have better opportunities ahead of you.
The point is, failure at anything can be the opportunity to start something big and beautiful. As of now, we might just don’t know it. Going forward, when the dots connect, we know it all.

Plus, failure is only a point, while success is a life-long journey. And in the end, as well as during a lifetime, the journey matters more than any milestones.
Success involves less of winning and more of learning.VISHNU GOYAL
Less of destination and more of journey.
Destination is momentary while journey is lasting.
In the end, experiences matter more than achievements.
That’s why journey is the true reward.
So, let’s not be disappointed at our failures.
Let’s take them as an opportunity to start something new, exciting, big, and beautiful.
Let our failures rock!
Keep Doing Good Stuff
[P.S. You are amazing. Let no one tell you otherwise.]
